My cat eats the tails off of toy catnip mice?

I had bought her some of these catnip mice before and noticed the tails seemed to disappear but I just assumed they wore off over time. But I got her a box of new catnip mice last week and today I caught her in the act of chewing the tail off of one and swallowing it! I cut all the tails from the remaining mice so she wouldn’t eat any more. I felt kind of bad because she does like to drag them by the tail but it can’t be good for her to eat those.

I’m not sure what they are made of … leather or suede maybe? At least I’m hoping it was an organic material like that and not plastic. She’s apparently eaten these tails before and it hasn’t hurt her but do you think I should worry about them building up in her stomach? Should I call the vet about it? I gave her a can of tuna with a little margarine to help get it down.

These are the mice she had: http://www.vitacost.com/Hartz-Kitty-Frenzy?csrc=GPF-032700980597 and I gave her the whole package at once. I only found a few that still had tails but some I haven’t located yet (probably under the stove or refrigerator).
Also she has other catnip mice that are stuffed cotton with string tails and she never eats those.

It should move it’s way through, but just to be certain you could have her xrayed. I think I would just to be on the safe side. I cut the tails off of our mice for the same reason. They love chewing them off. Xray was $80, but my vet tends to be on the high end of prices.

It’s probably not going to hurt your cat but i would call the vet just to make sure because if you keep giving them to your cat and it keeps eating it, then it might have some kind of effect on it. Your cat just wants the catnip! But just call the vet to be sure.
