Oskar the Blind Cat and Klaus Test Out “Kitty Kick Stix” Catnip Toy

Mike Scherenberg and his wife of Kitty Kick Stix was kind enough to send Oskar and Klaus one of their creations. Please check out the video at the bottom of this post to see the initial reaction to the colorful catnip log with bells. I think both cats are really enjoying this toy and they are even playing with it right now as I type this (now there’s actually less licking and more kicking). We will come back to the toy in the coming weeks to see how it holds up. For now, it’s good to see Oskar having fun less than a week after his neutering surgery! Thank you Kitty Kick Stix for the quality toy; I think we’ll have it for quite a while!

We’re wanting to start a pet supply business catering exclusively to dogs and cats. How would I start collecting my inventory? We make ourselves dog and cat houses, signs, but how do we start collecting our other inventory?

You would have to do research on companies who work with resellers. I’d imagine you could go into pet stores and buy everything there but it would probably be more efficient and price effective to go directly through a manufacturer that works with sellers.

My dog plays with the cats toys?

She is a Lab so she’s a bigger dog and she plays with my cats tiny toys. She’ll get on her back and roll around with them in her mouth, and they are so small I’m afraid she might choke. Also, my cat will try to join and she ends up rolling on him or hitting him on accident with her big paws. Why doesn’t she play with her fun, big, dog toys? Some of my cats toys have cat nip in them. Do dogs also like cat nip? Should I start taking away the cats toys?

Take all toys ( smaller than a tennis ball ) away from the Lab ASAP. Especially, laying on her back, she’s liable to get one stuck in her throat….too far down for you to reach…..and choke to death.

Did you hear about OPRAH’S Yellow Lab. He was playing with a ping-pong ball, choked on it, and died before anyone could get it out! Made a believer out of me, for sure!!

Put your kitty toys in a place where the dog cannot get to them. Then, when she’s outside, or in another room, let the cat have 1 or 2 to play with. Make SURE that they’re put away before letting the dog back into that space…….may save her life!!

Remember……….nothing smaller than a tennis ball……..I have a Chocolate Lab, and I don’t give him anything to play with that COULD get swallowed ( or stuck in his throat! ) Brutus ( my Lab ) loves playing with his tennis balls……..and large bones…..tied ropes, etc.

WASHING CATNIP CAT TOYS?

I’m doing a thorough cleaning of my room and I’m disinfecting everything! My cats have catnip toys.. Is it ok to wash them? They are not responsive to cat nip, so even if washing them will affect that, it doesn’t matter.

Since they are not responsive to catnip, and half of all cats are that way, then washing the toys really entails the time for the toys to dry out, and nothing else to be concerned about.

You will have to determine if the effort of washing and drying them is more effort then getting new toys.
