How should I go about making a new cat comfty?

Me and my friend made a agreement that I’d take in her adult cat, he’s a sweet laid back cat but I think I may be drastically different from his normal owner…

He’s been raised as a indoor outdoor cat, I’ve never owned a outdoor cat and the idea of letting him go in/out scares me (I live in apartment complex while my friend lives in a lone house).
When I get him he’ll be taking his first ever trip to the vet: where he’ll get his shots, bloodtest, microchip, and neutering.

Otherwise his transition is into the lap of luxury, hes going from a home hes unwanted to toys, cat trees, soft bed, timed feeder, fountain water dishes, and lots of huggles.
I just want help getting him adjusted :(

The best you can do is let the cat take it all in in their own terms. Start off by placing them in the same room as their litterbox with food and water, and when they’ve climatized then introduce them to new areas around the house, but make sure the kitty knows where to take care of all three of its basic needs.

Your new cat might insist on going outside, or try to make escapes because thats what its used to, but if you have a balcony you can always put up mesh between the bars and let the cat out then.

An adult cat will be easier than a kitten, but dont rush anything and dont smother the poor thing with attention on its first week, otherwise you’ll scare it.

Quarantine him until you get the blood results back. If he turns out to have FIV or something along those lines, you will be grateful you did this.

If he comes up clean, let him loose and he will make himself at home.
