How can I convince my dad to let me get the dog if my dreams?

Okay so recently my cat ran away and I had to sell my parakeets. All I have now are my two guineas. Don’t get me wrong, I love them, but dogs are better companions. My step-mom has a shih zhu lap dog, and my dad won’t let me. Any ideas on how I could convince him?

Additional Information: I pay for all my pet supplies and I am willing to pay for all my puppy supplied

By explaining how you failed your cat and your parakeets. Then, you explain how you have no interest in college so that you can immediately go to work as a stripper so you can pay the bills and have the time to care for a dog.

Have you told him you’re going to pay for everything, and take care of it? Tell him it’s the dog of your dreams and having it teaches you to be responsible and selfless. Tell him the dog’s your only escape if things aren’t going well in school or at home.

Additional info your age, DON’T even ask if you and close to collage age. What kind of dog do you want. Why did you have to sell your parakeets?

How much each month can you pay for supplies and vet bills?

All you can do is ask him. Let him know what kind of dog you want and tell him all the wonderful things about the dog. Tell your father that you think you are ready for the responsibility that a dog entails.

You dumped your birds and the cat and now you want another pet that you will dump? Why should they get you another animal that you won’t take care of?

You have two pets already, be grateful that you have them and don’t ask for any more since you are not responsible.

Your father said no so that means no. it doenst matter if you can pay, its his house and his rules and he doenst want another dog so that means no dog,

    Dogs are expensive pets.

•A dog can cost between $500-$2000+ depending on type of dog, gender, champion parents, ckc or akc registered ect.
    • Depending on size of dog and amount they eat on quality dog food, (not the junk such as kibbles and bits, puppy/dog chow etc) will be around $40-90+ a month that’s $500-$1000 a year just on food.
    • You should get a dog cage, as crate training does wonders and is a good place for sleeping at night, my dogs love their cages at night my one even learned to open his to get in. Cages cost around $30-$150+
    • dog beds cost $20-$100 we ussaully by a new one once every 4 months
    • dog toys. Anywhere from $1-$40 dogs can destroy toys really fast.
    • vet visits you can easily spend around $100-$500 a visit. Puppies ussaully go to the vets about 4 times by the age 1.
    • flea, ticks pills, cost around $50-$100 or more a year depending on what brand you go with
    • depending on the breed you will need to go to the groomers. Groomers visit is i believe $20 a visit most people go every month or so.
    • leash, collar, harness can cost around $50
    For a set.

You are looking at around $1000-$1500 on up keep on the dog.
