How can I play with my cat who is very picky with toys?

My cat cuddles is very picky. I’ve gotten her balls, yarn balls, and those strings but she just looks at them for a split second and then doesn’t bother with them. She’d rather play with a plastic bag or paper bag than the toys I bought her.

All my cats are exactly the same. I buy them toy mice, catnip toys, everything that they sell at petsmart and what do my cats like. MY HAIRTIES. I can’t stand it. I’ll buy a 30 pack of them and in a month I’ll be down to 5. My one cat plays fetch with them, I’ll admit it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. But I would just give up on getting them toys. If they have a certain taste in things (i.e hair ties) just keep providing them with what they like. Well be leary of the plastic bag, if it’s not safe for a baby, can’t be to good for a cat. But my childhood cat would like when I would scratch the back of the paper bag and then they would try to get what was on the other side.

    Dear Cuddles-

Time to invest in a laser pointer! I have a cat that sound just like that. Yeah, uh laser means a good chase!

Just remember to be careful about pointing into their eyes. It can damage their eyes, but that is only after prolonged exposure to the direct light, not the projected light against the carpet, walls or ceiling.

Oh yes one last thing. If you have valuable objects in the same room, I would suggest they are placed on sturdy environments. Should the laser track to a table top? Yeah, there might be a crashing sound!

    Have fun!!!

Try lacing her toys with cat nip. Ive never met a cat in my life who doesnt like cat nip! Or even try hiding pieces of food inside her toys, that will sure get her to play with them. You said your cat likes paper bags, well, there is actually a "fake" paper bag cat toy that crinkles just like a real paper bag, but is safer.

its weird. i have 2 kittens that rather play with a sock or a plastic bags and things you they find out in the yard that move. i get annoyed waisting money buying toys they wont play with. you should just let it play with the things that it wants to play with and not force it to play with something else. maybe you should take what ever it is that she plays with and play with it with her so that you wont feel left out , that’s what i do. then they become uninterested with it and they usually get another sock and play with it or play with the toys or each other

But think of the money you are saving! LOL My cat is a bit finicky with toys also. She won’t have anything to do with balls or any toy that is hard (not soft and squishy). After many failed purchases, I have discovered my cat loves little toy mice – she likes them kinda small and she tosses them up in the air to herself. She also loves playing in plastic or paper bags – which is great because those are free! I’ve also had great success with a cat-tunnel. It’s a long tube made of tent-fabric, and she really loves hiding in there and running through it.
