The pet shops get their stock mainly from puppy/kitten mills, brokers, or backyard breeders who don't care where the cats end up. Pet shops are not the best place to adopt. They are overpriced, poor quality cats/kittens with a lot of medical problems. You only encourage them to get more mill animals when you buy from a pet shop. All you are doing is paying for the shots,spaying/neutering and such. A lot of good pet stores will allow the local Humane Society to place adoptable pets there to help adopt them out... plus, it's good business for the store.. i.e. if you get your pet there, you are most likely to come back to buy supplies... And the shelter was probably getting crowded so that's y the kitty got transfered. Its just another way for them to find a home NO WORRY.
