Why would someone buy from a pet store?

I understand buying food, pet supplies, and goldfish; but I mean cats and dogs. Who would buy animals that were obtained from puppy mills and irresponsible breeders? Why would you support that?
I do not support breeders either.

Just because people do it, doesn’t mean they support it – people go to the pet stores because they’re just so much more convenient for them, because if they took time to find a reputable breeder for them, then, well, it’d take time, and then you’d have to deal with shipping or pick-up, it would be more expensive, and then they’ll probably ask questions…… it’s just about people naturally being selfish. So really, I’m supporting your point, just in different words. (And also, I’ve never actually done this – I have no cats or dogs, I just know this.)

Pet supply store recommended "Vet’s Best" "Hot Spot Spray" for my cat’s allergy problem, but the bottle says..?

"for Dogs" on it. I didn’t notice it until I got home after buying it (My fault… It was pretty plainly marked), but the pet supply store specifically recommended it for my cat’s flea bite allergy problem… He scratches himself a lot even though the fleas are gone.

The active ingredients are chamomile, aloe vera, and tea tree oil.

Is there any reason NOT to use this spray on a cat? Is it safe for felines?

Those are not uncommon ingredients in hot spot relief sprays for dogs, but in the treatments for cats, the Tea Tree Oil is not included. I’m unsure about the toxicity of melaleuca oil, but since all the hot spot treatments for dogs I researched said clearly "Not for use on Cats", I’m sure there is a reason.

Probably best to heed that advice in spite of what someone at the pet store may have said. Take it back and get something made for felines. They are such delicate creatures and very sensitive to essential oils, so it’s best not to take chances.

UPDATE – I did some research and I just found an article on Tea Tree being toxic to animals as well as some other oils that are being promoted as flea killers, skin soothers, etc. for pets. I am including a reference to that page below, as well as one for Corti-Care for cats, which is definitely ok for cats.

One last thing – Check with your vet, there may be an inexpensive treatment in pill form to help your cat with flea bite allergy.l I know there was a few years back when a friend of mine needed it.

You have bigger issues than food for pets. Start addressing those bigger issues, and the little ones like this will fall into place. Your wife’s treatment of you demonstrates a lack of respect for you and for herself. You will not help her by treating her as though either of these things are acceptable to you. She needs a man in her life she can respect, and whose love for her is meaningful because he respects himself, and expects others to respect him. I strongly suggest a book called "Love Must Be Tough" by James Dobson. Your Christian bookstore will have it. It is specifically addressed to the question of how to relate to an unfaithful spouse to maximize the possibility of saving the marriage. Accommodation is NOT the answer. You might also look at "Boundaries in Marriage" by Cloud and Townsend. You might also look at the book of Hosea in the Bible. Hosea marries a prostitute who returns to her old life. God tells him to go get her and bring her back. He does thi, but he does NOT pretend everything is back to normal again just because she is back. There are issues to be dealt with, and the marriage is not normalized until some time has passed. What you have been through is enormously difficult and would take a real emotional and psychic toll on anyone. I strongly suggest that you also consider talking with someone — a wise pastor, or an experienced marriage counselor — to get support and guidance in your choices. But be careful — there are many people giving bad advice. If the advice sounds wrong to you, it might be wrong.

On-line Pet Shop?

Hello everyone!

I’m the owner of a lovely persian kitty. I live in Iran (Tabriz to be precise) and I’ve been having a really hard time finding good quality pet supplies. As a matter of fact I have not find good cat supplies. Pets here are not common and most of them are dogs so the few pet shops I have found have very few things for cats. I’m still looking for a decent litter (I’m using a simple plastic pan) so you can Imagine.
ANYONE KNOWS OF AN ONLINE PET SHOP OUTSIDE IRAN AND ABLE TO SEND HERE OR AN ONLINE PET SHOP WITH GOOD CAT ITEMS IN IRAN???

Why are independent "mom and pop" pet supply stores rarely in shopping centers with grocery stores?

I’m thinking about opening a pet supply store with premium quality dog and cat food and eco friendly supplies (leashes, collars, toys, etc.), In my research, I’ve found that very few are in shopping centers with grocery stores. Most are in non-anchored centers or in their own buildings. Why is that? Cost? Convenient parking?

Mom and pop stores tend to be focused on the start up costs, while a franchise requires that you spend a certain amount of money to ensure success.

As a result malls are dominated by franchises and independent businesses end up in locations that are not as popular, either on the top floors of large department stores, strip malls or out of the way places.

I suggest that you try and figure out where your customers are. If you customers are local, then you can be in any location. But if your customers are highly distributed, then being in a mall means it is easier to get people in.

Does anyone know where to get cheap pet supplies online? I am going to donate to the local Humane Society.?

My mom gave me a blank check to use to get some stuff for my cat and I need to know if there is a site where i can pay with it without actually sending it in, you know, like by putting the check number and account number and stuff…
